Activated Charcoal Lemonade

I love starting my mornings off with a detoxifying drink such as lemon water or this twist that is simple and effective as well. Recently I’ve seen a trend of many juice companies advertising versions of Charcoal Lemonade which totally peaked my interest. After some research I decided to recreate my homemade version! This Charcoal Lemonade Detox Drink will knock your socks off! Don’t let the picture deceive you, it tastes yummier than it looks!

Benefits of Activated Charcoal Lemonade

Activated charcoal is made by burning a source of carbon at a high temperature, which removes oxygen. Many claim that activated charcoal essentially becomes a natural magnet for toxins (pesticides, dioxins on fish from contaminated waters, and even neurotoxins from mold) in your digestive tract. Activated charcoal is nothing new. Most water filters are filled with it and hospitals use it for patients who have been exposed to toxins or who have overdosed on drugs.

There’s many benefits to consuming it, in moderation, of course. It helps the body detox from processed food and environmental pollution, relieves digestive issues like gas and bloating, and gets rid of bad breath and body odor. Plenty of people also swear that activated charcoal is a hangover cure and love its anti-aging and beautifying effects. It’s also a great for oral health and an all natural alternative to whitening your teeth!

Benefits of this juice include:

  • Liver Detoxifier
  • Assists Elimination
  • Hangover Aid

Homemade vs. Store Bought Cost

It can be save quite a bit of money simply by making your own Charcoal lemonade detox drink. Some bottles can cost as much as $10 for 16 ounces! That can be a little heavy on your wallet if you try to make it apart of your regular health routine, but you can make your own for just pennies and its SOOOO easy!

Activated Charcoal Lemonade Detox Drink Recipe

  • Juice from 1/2 lemon
  • One quart of fresh filtered water
  • 2 drops of Lemon Therapeutic Essential Oils (where to buy)
  • Pinch of Himalayan Sea Salt (where to buy)
  • 1 Tbs of Organic Pure Maple Syrup (where to buy)
  • 1 tsp of activated charcoal (where to buy)

I warm up the water on the stove and squeeze the juice and throw the lemons in a mason jar. Then I pour the warmed water over the lemons and let it steep for about 20 minutes. I then remove the lemon wedges and discard and add 2 drops of lemon oil in the maple syrup and add to the water lemon mix. Then I add a tsp of activated charcoal and mix. Make sure to take this drink on an empty stomach with no food 2 hours before or after the drink. The reason is the charcoal cannot tell the difference between nutrients and toxins and will remove everything from the system. Make sure to drink plenty of water throughout the day as the charcoal can cause some dehydration which could cause constipation. This drink can be taken first thing in the morning or at the end of the evening.
