If you have an expensive car or a nice piece of property most people will make a point to invest to keep that prized possession in mint condition. Why should we feel any less about our bodies? It’s the only place we have to live and if we don’t keep good care of it what happens? It gets run down and even worse, it can go kaput. It is so important to take the time to invest in our health and wellness and doing so doesn’t have to be a chore. Here are 5 simple ways to invest in your health.
5 Simple Ways to Invest In Your Health
1.Eat Good Food
Our food is our fuel, eating whole nutrient dense foods gives our body the vitamins and minerals it needs to function properly. A diet high in processed foods has an overall affect on the entire mind and body. While many people think that local, organic and sustainable food is expensive hasn’t priced the cost of illness and disease that is associated with poor diet. Doctors visits, prescriptions, hospital visits all come with a cost, not to mention how you feel day in and day out. It’s no secret that those who eat better foods feel, look and generally are healthier than those that don’t. Diet also plays a factor in how we feel. Eating processed foods is taxing on the liver which causes us to become sluggish and depressed. Making an effort to eat fresh, local organic fruits and veggies and grass-fed or pastured meats will make a difference in overall health and well-being. And when it comes down to dollars and cents, organic food can be slightly more expensive but A.) It’s better for you and B.) It’s actual FOOD, not chemicals and who know’s what! That is, of course, unless you enjoy eating and drinking beaver butt, flame retardant and yoga mats!
2.Reduce Toxins
We are bombarded with chemicals all day every day. In our air, water, food, products- You name it! While there is no way to eliminate them all, there are things that can be done to reduce the amounts you are exposed to. Eating healthy organic foods as mentioned above is one way, reducing the amount of chemicals in our households is another. We spend quite a bit of time indoors and common household products can contain dozens of harmful cancer causing chemicals. Many beauty products too are a mixture of toxic ingredients that break the rule of- if you wouldn’t eat it, don’t put it on your skin! By choosing products from conscious companies or making your own with essential oils and other natural products is a great way to reduce everyday exposure to chemicals. Again, while the natural alternatives may be slightly higher in price they outweigh the physical, emotional and future monetary costs associated with the toxic options.
