We have become so disconnected with our food source with numerous amounts of processed foods available that many people turn to out of convenience. This has  major impact on how our body functions.

Do you wish you could grow your own foods but think that you don’t have the time, energy or space that a garden requires? I felt the same way and am so excited to begin urban gardening to teach my kids about gardening and growing their own food and to be able to eat locally grown produce that can help lower our grocery bill. The purpose of this post is to share with you tips for urban gardening in a small space and how to grow aeroponically.

Our Disconnection with Food

As a culture we have become so disconnected with our food. This leads to mindless eating such as the over consumption of processed foods, health problems, obesity, etc.

Backyard gardening can help inspire you to take an interest in the origins of your food and make better choices about what you put on your plate. It is a great way to help you eat more fresh fruits and vegetables and perfect if you have picky eaters. You decide what kinds of fertilizers and pesticides come in contact with your food, or that don’t. It lets you control when to harvest your food. Vegetables that ripen in the garden have more nutrients than some store-bought vegetables that must be picked early because you can eat them at their peak instead of getting them as their nutrients deplete daily.

For me personally, I have not had much success with gardening. All goes well for a few weeks, but after awhile I get busy and forget to give TLC to my plant friends, mainly because they aren’t as vocal as kids and dogs when they need to be taken care of, I get distracted and everything ends up dying. As I mentioned before, when it comest to gardening I have a bit of a brown thumb. My intentions are good, but at this point in my life, I don’t have much time for all the effort and energy that comes with gardening. Yet, as a health advocate I am passionate about the benefits of growing your own food. Also, as a homeschooling mom, I know how important it is to teach my kids about nutrition and want to create a closer connection with the foods we eat. Our health, clarity of mind and also our mood and inner balance, depend very strongly, on the frequencies we are exposed to, or take into our body, by ways of food. Everything Has a Frequency

We live in a world of frequencies, vibration and energy. We are part of the whole system. Every cell of our body vibrates – everything has its optimal frequency.

Optimal frequency is when all is in order – when we are in balance, our vibration is in unison with the law of vibration – when we are in tune and each cell of our body vibrates at the frequency it was designed to… there is no effort, no conflict. Our thoughts are vibrations, too – we can change our perception by changing our frequency. Our thoughts make up our personal world.

When an individual is not well their body’s vibration lowers, the immune system weakens, and many invaders enter and stay in a person’s body. Today we are being exposed to many of these invaders frequently.

You have heard the old adage, “You are what you eat!” Well, simply put, it’s pretty accurate. If you are eating food with little to no frequency you are continually lowering your body’s energy.

Energy of Foods (fresh foods and herbs can be higher if grown organically and eaten freshly picked):

  • Fresh Foods 20-27 Hz
  • Fresh Herbs 20-27 Hz
  • Dried Foods 15-22 Hz
  • Dried Herbs 15-22 Hz
  • Processed/Canned Food 0 HZ…(the majority of food people eat)

According to Dr. Royal R. Rife, every disease has a frequency. He found that certain frequencies can prevent the development of disease and that others would destroy disease. Substances with higher frequency will destroy diseases of a lower frequency. The study of frequencies raises an important question, regarding the frequencies of substances we eat, breathe and absorb. Many pollutants we are exposed to lower healthy frequency. Processed/canned food/fast food has a frequency of zero whereas Fresh produce has up to 15 Hz, dried herbs from 12 to 22 Hz and fresh herbs from 20 to 27 Hz.

Create an Environment to Enhances Digestion

  • Quiet and peaceful setting.

  • Practice eating mindfully savoring and enjoying your food rather than rushing through it. Allow the tastes to sit on your tongue for a few seconds, smell the aromas, look at the colors and textures of your meal, etc.

Avoid Foods to Decrease Vitality and Increase Stress

  • Genetically modified Foods
  • Irradiated Foods
  • Foods cooked in a microwave oven.
  • Refined (white flour, white rice, all grains that have the germ and the bran removed). Processed (all junk food; most snack foods).
  • High glycemic. These sugary, starchy foods affect blood sugar levels and weight management.
  • Hydrogenated (margarine; vegetable shortening, lard).
  • Containing additives (chemicals and hormones), preservatives or color dyes
  • Artificial sweeteners—all of them
  • Coffee whiteners
  • Canned.


Avoid Eating Habits to Decrease Vitality and Increase Stress

  • Eating more food than the body can digest at a meal
  • Drinking with meals dilutes digestive enzymes and hydrochloric acid in the stomach
  • Bolting food down.
  • Being distracted.
  • Eating while feeling tense or emotionally upset is very acid forming.
  • Arguing while eating creates even more acid in the system

Avoid Environments (Inner & Outer) That Weaken Digestion
