Reflexology

Reflexology is an ancient healing art that can be done in the comfort of your own home. This system of massage is used to reduce stress and tension and treat illness based on the fact that reflex points in the hands and feet are linked to every gland, organ and part of the body. Practitioners believe that applying pressure to these reflex areas can promote health in the corresponding body parts through energetic pathways. Studies indicate that reflexology may reduce pain and psychological symptoms such as depression and anxiety while enhancing relaxation and improving sleep.

My husband and I love trading reflexology massages. It’s a fun little way that we can spend some time together when the kids go to bed.  A couple of years ago for Valentine’s Day I bought my hubby THIS as a gift and we love it! Especially the socks! It has been fun to learn more about the art of reflexology and applying these techniques to help the kids sleep or when someone isn’t feeling well. Reflexology is easy and has many health benefits.

3 Simple Reflexology Techniques*Avoid performing reflexology during pregnancy until due date.

You can perform reflexology either on yourself or a partner and can decide whether or not you want to use massage oil or therapeutic grade essential oils for additional benefits.

1. For Headaches and Migraines

Massage the balls of the toes. Apply pressure to the entire surface of each toe and repeat the process about 8 times on each toe. The Big Toe especially corresponds to the head so pay attention to the very top of each one.

2. General Health and Well-being

Massage the entire foot using light to medium pressure and paying particular attention to any tender spots. Feelings of soreness and discomfort typically mean a corresponding body part or organ is out of balance.

3. Tension and Stress Relief

The joints of each toe is associated with the neck and helps to relieve neck tension. For tension in the chest, shoulders, lungs and heart apply pressure to the balls of the feet.
