Natural Personal Lubricant

A healthy sex life is important for many reasons as mentioned HERE in my post on how to increase your libido naturally. The need for lubrication to get things going in a common problem for many. Lack of lubrication during sex can be caused by many reasons such as getting older, having children and nursing. Common medications such as anti-biotics and anti-histamines contribute to vaginal dryness and cause pain during sex and is associated with low sex drive. Many people rely on commercial lubricants as the answer to their problems without any idea of the harmful side effects. This post will share with you the dangers of many store bought personal lubricants and how you can make your own natural personal lubricant.

The Dirty Truth About Personal Lubricants

Almost all personal lubricants on the market contain dangerous petrochemicals such as propylene glycol an ingredient also used in oven cleaner, anti-freeze and brake fluid. YUCK! Commercial lubricants also contain many methyl and propyl parabens which are considered carcinogens and banned in Europe. These chemical lubricants actually damage the genital tissue they are supposedly helping. The warming sensation that is considered a perk of lubricant actually causes the skin to shrivel up and fall off the tissue causing small tears and compromising the genital’s natural immune functions. Women who use commercial lubricants are more likely to experience vaginal infections and have a higher risk for STD’s. Unfortunately, the general public is unaware of the dangers and continues to contribute willingly to the $219 million dollar personal lubricant industry.

How to Make Your Own Natural Personal Lubricant

I have been making my own personal lubricant for awhile now and it’s so easy, without any disgusting ingredients. In fact the ingredients used actually boost sexual health and help to support hormone health as well. Natural Personal Lubricant can be made with just about any safe/edible carrier oil and any blend of essential oils. Click here to learn where to buy essential oils. Here is my favorite to use:

  • Coconut Oil (where to buy)
  • Lavender Essential Oil
  • Peppermint Essential Oil
  • Geranium Essential Oil
  • Jasmine Essential Oil
  • Ylang Ylang Essential Oil
  • Glass Bottle (where to buy)

I use 3-4 drops of each oil. The lavender oil will calm and relax the nervous system, ylang ylang is an aphrodisiac, peppermint oil will recreate the sought after tingly sensation and geranium and jasmine oil that will aid in supporting healthy hormone function. This oil blend makes an awesome natural personal lubricant and can also double as a massage oil.

**Warning** Do not use this lubricant with condoms as the coconut oil and essential oils are not compatible with latex and will cause the condoms to break!***
