Spring is upon us! With the weather warming up it’s time to show more skin! Exfoliating is a great way to make sure your skin looks smooth and polished. I used to love the delicious smelling ones from those mall stores until I began to learn about the amount of toxins in personal and beauty products. Knowing that those scented products were causing harm to my body made the inciting smell really lose their luster. This post will share my recipe for a delicious, easy and non-toxic Mojito sugar scrub recipe that is good enough to eat, and because it’s made without toxic chemicals, technically you can!

Benefits of Exfoliation

Exfoliating skin on a regular basis, once or twice a week for mild exfoliation, can improve the results of your skin care routine and help rejuvenate your skin. Whether you have dry, normal, oily or sensitive skin, exfoliation can bring new life to your complexion.

The process of exfoliation rids the body of any dry, dull skin by removing dead skin cells from the surface of the epidermis. By removing these dead cells, exfoliation can help keep pores from becoming clogged and leave skin with a refreshed and clean feeling. Clogged pores can result in blackheads and acne. Furthermore, when pores are clogged, they appear larger. So, if you’re worried about the size of your pores, although you can’t reduce their actual size (genetics is the biggest factor in pore size), you can help diminish their appearance by keeping them clog-free.

In addition to the immediate visual benefits of exfoliation, the removal of dead skin cells speeds up the skin renewal process, allowing smoother, healthier skin cells to take their place. Not only will this help with fine lines and wrinkles, but it will help to ease discoloration as well. Routine exfoliation can lead to visibly brighter and healthier-looking skin.

Mojito Sugar Scrub Recipe

Of course, as with most of my homemade personal/beauty products, I recommend using pure therapeutic grade essential oils as they have the most benefits. Here is more info on how to order these amazing oils!

  • 1/2 cup Turbinado Sugar (where to buy)
  • 1/4 cup Melted Organic Coconut Oil (where to buy)
  • 5 drops of Lime Essential Oil
  • 5 drops of Peppermint Essential Oil

Mix all the ingredients in a bowl and then transfer to an airtight jar! Viola! That’s it! It is so easy to make, smells AMAZING, makes your skin beautiful and is a great homemade gift that anyone will appreciate! Enjoy!
