Making your own DIY homemade products is much easier than you think. I never realized how easy it was to make my own sugar scrub, and now I will never buy a scrub again. Not only because of how easy it is, but commercial brand scrubs can contain nasty ingredients. This version is easy, non-toxic and smells AMAZING! Here is my recipe for homemade orange spiced sugar scrub.

Benefits of Sugar Scrubs:

Sugar provides exfoliating granules to help to slough off dead skin, and the rubbing action itself boosts circulation and helps drain your lymph nodes, by increasing blood flow to the skin’s surface. Your skin will be smooth and hydrated, and because of this homemade recipe you may not even need a moisturizer after your bath/shower. In the shower apply the scrub to your skin and leave it on for about a minute. Massage the scrub off gently in the shower as you bathe. This will not only help detoxify your skin, but will help exfoliate dead skin cells as you rinse it off.

Homemade Orange Spiced Sugar Scrub Recipe

  • 1/4 cup Coconut Oil (where to buy)
  • 1/4 cup Organic Cane Sugar (where to buy)
  • 1/4 cup Himalayan Sea Salt (where to buy)
  • 3 drops Orange Essential Oil
  • 3 drops Cinnamon Essential Oil
  • 3 drops Nutmeg Essential Oil
  • 3 drops Ginger Essential Oil
  • Glass wide mouth Jar (where to buy)

Benefits of Therapeutic Essential Oils:

When it comes to essential oils, I highly recommend using Therapeutic grade essential oils to get the most health benefits. You can learn more about why I choose these premium grade oils and where to get them.

Orange is uplifting and boosts immunity. Its also helpful to induce relaxation and reduce feelings of worry.

Cinnamon promotes a healthy immune response, and helps maintain a healthy lifestyle regimen.

Nutmeg is great for circulatory support. It is comforting and soothing and helps boost energy. It also supports nervous and endocrine systems and prostaglandin balance

Ginger supports a healthy lifestyle regimen. It is gentle, stimulating and endows physical energy and courage.

Sea Salt is an excellent exfoliating treatment, and is found as a primary ingredient in many high-end spa treatments. It is a natural detoxifier, as the salt absorbs the toxins from the skin. Increased circulation, antiseptic effects, soft skin without a greasy feel and reduction in fluid retention are just some of the additional benefits of sea salt for the skin. Since sea salt does not go through the same manufacturing processes as table salt, the minerals from the sea remain, giving sea salts different colorings depending on where they are from. Many of these minerals also provide nutrients and benefits to the skin.

How to Make Sugar Scrub:

Mix all the ingredients in a bowl and add coconut oil if it seems too dry. Put into a jar and add a label or a ribbon to decorate. It is easy to make and so cost efficient. It makes the perfect gift because it is simple, inexpensive and luxurious!
